Multidisciplinary Urologic Oncology Clinic

The treatment options for all genitourinary cancers are expanding and many patients can be offered several approaches to treat their cancer. Additionally, patients will often require more than one treatment approach including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy to achieve the best outcome.  Treatment plans that include more than one type of treatment are referred to as multidisciplinary care.

At the University of Florida we embrace multidisciplinary care and work as a team to ensure we provide all patients with the most up to date, comprehensive care, centered around their unique condition. Our multidisciplinary care team focuses on the treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney, penile and testis cancers.  We feel it is important for patients to be presented with and understand all of their treatment alternatives prior to starting treatment. For this reason, we encourage patients to meet with our experts from all specialties when appropriate.

Because of the excellent collaboration between our care providers, we are able to offer review of select, complex cases at our genitourinary tumor board to help guide treatment.  The genitourinary tumor board aims to provide treatment recommendations following review by a team of Urologists, Radiation Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Radiologists, and Pathologists.  A further advantage of our multidisciplinary approach to care is our ability to offer patients cutting edge care through clinical trials.  The clinical trials we offer aim to improve existing treatment options, decrease side effects of treatments, and provide patients with treatment options after established options have failed.
